Hi ……..I am Ricky Strain an avid Gainesville, Florida golfer. I have put this site together to provide free information for the average golfer who is looking for a way to improve their golf game and they are not sure where to start. Few people would disagree that putting is one of the most important areas of the great game of golf.

Putting is one of the most important aspects of the golf game and is as much as 40% of your score and yet it is the last thing we tend to practice. Yes, we will throw 3 balls down on the green and hit them toward a hole a couple of times before we play, but who really practices putting with a purpose. Very, very few golfers really practice putting in a way that will lead to improvement and confidence. Why is that the case?

I think there are a lot of reasons for this. The list below shows a few of the reasons I have heard and seen given;

  1. A lot of golfers don’t realize how much they could improve there scores and lower there handicaps with even 1 hour a week of focused putting practice.
  2. It is a lot more fun to go to the driving range and bang drivers with no purpose.
  3. They don’t see any improvement when they do practice putting because they really aren’t working on anything specific.
  4. There equipment isn’t right for them and so they struggle to ever get lined up properly and can’t put a good stroke on it.
  5. They are continually changing golf ball types (using the last one they fished out of the pond) and so they can never see any consistency in distance control.
  6. They have a limited amount of time to practice so putting is the last thing to get attention and usually the time is used up on the range.
  7. They don’t keep up with the number of putts they have per round, so that if they practiced and improved they wouldn’t even know it. “What gets measured improves”.
  8. They would rather go play 9 holes with their buddy than practice.
  9. They don’t know how to practice putting.
  10. They have never set any putting goals.
I am sure you could add more reasons to the list, but the point is, if you were to dedicate the time to putting it deserves you would improve your game.
It is my goal to share with you everything I have learned in the last 40 years about putting and golf in general so you can have a better understanding and appreciation for the most important part of the game.
If my site helps you and makes a difference in your game then I have accomplished what I set out to do. If it does not, then I thank you for visiting and I hope you find what you are looking for. Golf is a great game and no matter what any one says, it is more fun when your scores are lower.
